“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead
The Employer Coalition on Health (ECOH) is a group of employers, employer trade organizations and other purchasers who are concerned about the unsustainable growth in healthcare costs. ECOH supporters are collaborating to make healthcare more affordable in Massachusetts by using their collective voice to advocate for change. ECOH will amplify the voice of employers in health policy discussions by making the cost of commercial health insurance care a key consideration for lawmakers, regulators and other stakeholders in health policy decisions.

Unsustainable Rising Costs
The cost of health care continues to rise at unsustainable rates. ECOH has a four point plan to contain costs for Massachusetts employers:
- Lower the cost benchmark
- Implement dramatic efficiencies — 30% of health care costs are unnecessary or harmful
- Freeze mandates — the system currently has 50 mandates, 7 added in 2025
- Formulate innovative solutions
Amplifying the Employer Voice
Employers must engage to prevent additional costly laws from passing. Small to mid-size businesses bear the brunt of increasing health care costs. This is unsustainable and their voices must be heard at the highest level.
